Carved wooden boats in situ by Burgess Park Lake

Art in the Park has been involved in several projects to make artwork, with community or school groups, for sitting in public parks or school grounds.

The artwork has been very diverse; ranging from carved wooden boats to be played upon in a picnic area and concrete benches for a national cycle network, to mosaic and bronze sculptural maps referring to local history and wildlife.

Carved wooden niches for 'treasured objects' at Kintore Way Nursery

One of our main partners in this work has been Groundwork Southwark, who, as part of their relandscaping of Burgess Park, have commissioned us to involve local groups in public art which contributes to the ongoing rejuvenation of Burgess Park. In this and other locations, consultation with the local group we are working with , is always a first step in the devising of the project. We enjoy encouraging people to interact with their green spaces in this way.
