Introduction to Sculpture

Sculpting examples

Course overview:

This is a two day course structured approach to sculpture and sculptural form.

Day one: Sculptural drawing

Sculptural drawing will be achieved by working on larger scale drawings to draw out compositions, contrast and creativity. We will be using various drawing mediums, techniques and discussions to incorporate whatever it is of interest to them in their drawings. All this and more will be working toward a final design for their sculptural form.

Day two: Sculpting

The second part of the course will cover basic sculpting techniques. The student will also start to develop an understanding of sculptural form as a result.

Some basic sculptural techniques will be used include:

  1. How to mix and use plaster,
  2. How to make simple structures using armature wire and other materials.
  3. Individuals will be given guidance and support for their work over the two day course and will be able to take away their drawings and sculpture home.
