Forget Graffitti

Brand on the 'wiggly wall' in Forget Graffitti projectThis project, based at the studio at Art in the Park, was run as part of Southwark Summer University in July 1999. We have contributed environmental art programmes to the University for the past three years.

"Forget Graffitti" involved students aged 15 to 16 from local secondary schools and acted as a pre-foundation for those interested in studying Art & Design. Most usefully, it provided participants with the opportunity to work alongside professional sculptors and landscape designers on a real project for Burgess Park.

Students sitting on the 'wiggly wall'Students designed suitable images for branding onto 18 timber waymarkers for an orienteering trail around Burgess park. In acheiving this end they had learnt to use professional artistic working methods and explored a range of materials and techniques including clay and plaster working and branding on wood.
