Heart Gardens

Heart Gardens Through the Year:

April 2007 - September 2007

October 2007 - March 2008

Art in the Park’s pioneering project the Heart garden has been given a boost of 5 years lottery funding from the Big Lottery – Creating Communities.
Originally set up by Art in the Park artists in partnership with Southwark General Practices and health professionals it is hosted by Southwark’s Park division.

Our longest Heart Gardener admires his work

Artist Jane Higginbottom and Artist/gardener Rebecca Scott have been co-ordinating a range of activities for the Heart Gardeners including growing vegetables for healthy eating, making a mosaic table and working on the area in front of Art in the Park to change concrete into a floral display.

Patients with CHD and long term illness can be referred to the project which has an emphasis on friendly, social activities and holistic health. We are also working in conjunction with Tricia Easton who brings a group from SLAM every spring and summer.

The Heart Garden runs on Friday mornings with a meal on the last Friday of the month. It has also received generous funding from The Peter Minet trust and Aylesbury N.D.C.
