Collaborative Copper Hanging

Andrea Sinclair is working with Art GCSE students from Tower Hamlets Pupil Referral Unit at Third Base and Dockland Settlement Education Centres.

The students have been working on plates of copper using two different techniques, etching and embossing, developing themes, such as microscopic images of pollen, that they have been working on in class. They used specialist metal-working tools in the process. The plates will be combined into one or two hangings which will be exhibited in a public space in Tower Hamlets, and then in the PRU centres.

The students will eventually be able to take the individual plates back for their portfolios. The hanging will be put together at the end of January, when photos of the finished piece will be shown here.
