Chumleigh Cafe Ceramics

4 Chumleigh Cafe ceramicsJola Spytkoska, ceramicist worked with the Art in the Park studio and children from 1st Place nursery to design and create the ceramic flowers for the new cafe in Chumleigh Gardens. The cafe is now called 'Park Life Cafe', the name was chosen through a local competition.

The clay body of the stoneware was high fired to bisque 1180. The underglaze colours were then applied to the bisque plus a brush on transparent glaze and low fired to
earthenware temp 1000.

Templates were used for the flower shapes, followed by stamping. When the clay is stiffer, it can then be manipulated at the centre to push out a shallow bowl shape.
